O yes, i loved Love Aaj Kal and i think its not out of the world, its completely practical and completely sane in the world of today when we all are so confused about being in love or not with some1 or the other that all these circumstances are a possibility and we'll c a lot more of this happening in the recent times to come...chahe hamare parents ko yeh acchha lage yaa nahi...! Love of our times is different n yeah its practical to be in love and more practical to get ur love in ur own way!
So, Imtiaz ur work was gud and defnitely a fun filled 2 hours spent...but this one is for someone else...n yeah truly deserves all the hoopla and excitement and energy of this post is none other than another BIG one, Vishal saab!!!
The last time when I was mesmerized by any movie this much from a bollywood director was none other than Anurag Kashyap for his movie "Gulaal". But this time when I sat down to pen my thoughts, there was so much to write with my mind full of so much that I knew already that i will hav too lill that I can remember...hence info 2 this post might even b added later...
Well, Kaminey is not revolutionary if you are a Hollywood follower like me...we all have seen many of similar tales like Snatch, Lock Stock, RocknRolla and the likes where so many gangwars culminate to a twist in the end or a maxican standoff like a situation giving a sollid climax to finally get the movie to the credits. But, what I liked about Kaminey was the way Vishal successfully generated the Indian version with a great screenplay, with amazingly intertwined and complex characters, with a lot of rivetting motion, with ripping dialogues, with motion cameras (unlike any other bollywood movie for the first time), and definitely with rocking performances from each and every of his characters!
The thing which is commendable about these Directors of our times and how they pick up non-stars from theatres and conceive such a commendable act which actually suits the role so much that u sometimes start feeling that we are not watching a movie but a real life drama...may b coz u hav never seen these guys act before, so they appear so real, cut out for the job well done for Vishal...
Well, it wud b a real injustice to not write about Shahid and Priyanka...boss, wat a performance by Charlie and Guddu, u cud defintely relate to both of them and the way u cud laugh at their speech disorders was a work of art which will be long lived in the Indian cinema now...Priyanka, the alltime Sweety, was again a sollid act in her cute little non-makeup yet lovable role, where she might hav really made people want such a "forward" girlfriend in their lives who was even ready to call the pundit for the shaadi thing...and yet was a diehard lover begging police to leave his h..hh..h.hufband!
I will now have to come back to the way Vishal has written those dialogues and given them to all his characters...these dialogues were the heart of the movie and they literally make u laugh lukin at the person next to u (just to chk whether he undetrstood the implication)!...I loved the "Life me do raaste hote hai...ek fortcut aur doosra chota fortcut" as the most! In fact the "dishoom-dhaaye dhaaye" bope-tope act was a hilarious watch!
This movie was rivetting in terms of the way it was delivered, Vishal easily cud hav made a simpler film by making it a 3 hour movie where he was explaining everything, but may b he personally made it a shorter fast paced movie so that audience wud remain sitting on the edge of their seats and kept confused and juggling with their brain for the entire 2 hours right from the word go. Else, may b some of u wud agree wid me on this that if he wud hav put the last credit song sung my Mohit Chauhan in the first half to show the chemistry between Guddu and Sweety, it might have worked better. In fact a lot of scenes went so fast that many of our Indian audience might defnitely not appreciate tht as they are really not used to that (I think and u all can disagree on this if u wish!).
Finally, I was too much maniaced from a long time with my status msgs with all the "F's" everywhere...and I think it has proved to be a fucceff for me...hence "Well done Kaminey, very well done Fahid and awefomely well done Vifaal"!!! U've joined at least my top league of extraordinary bollywood directors along with Anurag saab.
PS: Wish the times of "no-mind-needed-movies" like those of David Dhawans and Akshay Kumars are finally over wid this one!!!

I still got to see the movie... But I am sure Vishal bhardwaj is creating its own genre of movies..which will definitely start a trend....
agree with you..it wasnt something new that i watched..but definitely such a delight to watch a movie like this in the indian context..
totally loved shahid for his act..he finally has the genes speaking..and he definitely has done his superb actor dad full proud:)
not to forget the chiselled looks..hes looked awesome in that avatar!:)
loved the tope bhope act...th movie definitely is a plus..and hopefully will put a pause,if not full sop to the mindless movies we have had to watch off late..
but one thing that i disagree with you is love aaj kal..i totally hated the movie..more because of how annoying i found deepika there..loved the concept,but some how felt she ruined the beauty of her character by being such a plastic doll
sirji this time complete disagreement, there is a big difference between a fast paced movie and putting 20 hours material incomprehensibly in 2 hours movie. shahid undoubtedly has enacted speech disorders perfectly , but he is very immature (acting wise) to perform such an intense character , and unlike vishal's previous movies, this time it has been depicted in more of a drama manner(which eventually turned out to be a melodramatic one), which cud have been the more of conversational in manner , which is the best way to make movies on adaptations. agree upon one point that mohit's song cud have been placed with romantic plot between guddu nd swwety. i am disappointed this time, and i don't feel hesitate while saying that this time vishal ji has done blunder(after comparing this one to his privious movies).
@Guppi: Come on wat r u doing...its up in mumbai frm today and u hav to catch the first day any show bandwagon...:)
Get back when u r done watching!
@Santa:
Come on yaa...how can a diehard romantic and a believer of love hate Love aaj kal...
I mean Dipika was a lill platic...but she was meant 2 b casual in the movie thts wat i believe...
N come on any girl with those sexy abs has 2 b loved...watever acting she puts forth ;)
But all in all it was a Saif movie...n munda aapke points definitely mangta hai :)
@Punnu:
1. Incomprehensible 2 hours???
2. Immature act by Shahid???
3. Melodramatic drama???
4. Blunder???
Sirjee, i appreciate ur honest viewpoint but I wud like 2 hav more details on the above 4 points tht I picked from ur comment...
Here's my take on thm:
1. Vishal connected all the dots in the 2 hours and he didn't leave any end of the thread open...so thts job well done!
2. Fahid proved his worth for the first time...I mean wat I think he'll join the big league wid this...pulling of those two difficult roles wid such passion reflected in his body is a work of art yaar...
3. Where was it melodramatic yaar...it was completely rivetting fast paced thriller
4. Its an introduction of a new genre of movies n movie making in Indian cinema...hence even it gets flopped (which is less probable), it can't b a blunder...
:) Wat say punnu saab?
@Akash:-that woman cant act for nuts..and we all know that:)
have u seen socha na tha?that movie has ayesha takia again playing the casual role,and that being her first movie,she did such a fab job..
i dont know theres definitely something abt deepika that irks me..
as for hating love aaj kal..dont know why..the plot was awesome..saif was good and songs i love..yet the whole package somehow didnt work for me:(..probably i had much higher expectations after socha na tha n jab we met
sirjii , if you say revetting fast paced movie with every part firmly connected and accomplished i would say tht this movie reminds me of priyadarshan's hungama and hulchal , where in the climax scene every damn artist was present in order to pull out stupid situational comedy. same has been done to this movie. although the whole movie seems to be entwined at some point or the other , but specially in the climax every character of this movie (both fahids, sweety , tope bahu gang , thashi gang , bangali gang with the dead body of chota bangali)are there to conclude the movie , sirjii if this is not wht i say cut short of 20 hours material in 2 hours , then what it is???????
there may b difference in opinion on shahid's performance , individual choice you know...... but ...
just watch blue umbrella which is least famous and not as gud as his other movies and compare even tht with kaminey , u will come to know why did i use word "blunder".
and i appreciate you critical mind when you say that this movie will start a trend of its kind.. absolutely right but sirjii this movie can never become a trend-setter. so all i can say about this movie and efforts of vishal and fahid and all others "busted expectations".
@Santa:
Yeh expectations hi hai aaj kal jo love aaj kal ko kamzor bana deti hai...
Bas expectations tone down karo...open n cool frame of mind rakho...n all love aaj kals will be successfuls...wat say?
As for Dipika, I'll giv her this one chance (due to her abs), if she performs the same in her next one too...thn I'll take a call...till thn...chill!!!
@Punu:
Well tried man...but busted expectations...;)...
Just one thing, we can;t compare this wid Hulchal or some Hungama...watch "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", n thn u'll b able to match the class n the genre of the movie tht this is :)
